The MDC Intelligent Stirrups® are a revolutionary new stirrup design that positions your stirrups where YOU want them. Riders can now select any of three preset stirrup positions: traditional, 45 degrees or 90 degrees. You can customize your stirrups to the setting that best suits you, your horse and your riding application. This Feature is a First in Modern Stirrup Technology! The preset angle improves leg, calf and foot position, relieves pressure on hips, knees and ankles, as well as reducing leg burns. The MDC Intelligent Stirrups® are easily retrievable, making your performance more precise and much safer. Additionally, the open stirrup angles greatly reduces the danger of being hung up and seriously injured.
Releases Pressure on Ankles, Knees, Hips and Back
Many stirrups claim that they release pressure on the ankles, knees hips and back but do not explain how this happens. The MDC Intelligent Stirrups® are truly more comfortable due to the fact that these stirrups come to you and not you to them. Our preset angles match your specific body needs and work to promote a greater harmony with your body alignment. Anyone with any stiffness or previous injuries will immediately feel this release of pressure on their joints.
45 Degrees
Once the rider presets the stirrups at 45 degrees, instantly they notice that the leather is applying ½ the pressure across their shin as a normal stirrup. This reduction in leather pressure reduces leg burns, but still gives the rider who relies on this pressure the feeling that they desire. Should the rider lose their iron, the MDC Intelligent Stirrups® will tend to leave a clear opening making the stirrup easily retrievable. This increase in stirrup retrieval puts the rider back in control and allows them to proceed and compete at their highest possible efficiency. 45 Degrees seems to be the preferable preset angle for Show Jumpers and Event Riders.
90 Degrees
Presetting the irons at 90 degrees results in no leather pressure across the shin and leaves the iron completely open for retrieval. At 90 degrees, the MDC Intelligent Stirrups® are preforming at their maximum level: no leather burns, maximum retrieval and the greatest safety, as the stirrup tends to remain open allowing the dislodged rider to clear the stirrup safely and easily. 90 Degrees seems to be the preferable preset for Dressage, Endurance and Trail Riders as well as general flat riding applications.
Traditional Angle
Of course, the MDC Intelligent Stirrups® can be set at the traditional angle. This allows you to easily run up your irons.

Stirrup measurements are taken from the inside branch of the stirrup across the tread to the other inside branch. Stirrups that are too small are more difficult to retrieve and may not release your foot easily during a fall.

MDC Stirrups™ are true sized. We have taken into account the rubber sleeves and create a true opening of either 4 ¼”, 4 ½”, 4 ¾” or 5” unlike other hinged products whose openings are smaller than advertised. MDC's patented design allows for more escape room from the top of the tread to the top of the inner stirrup arch. Modern stirrups are taller than they are wider. This increased area allows for more ease in escaping a stirrup during a fall than designs with less clearance area.

Innovative and impressive

The design of the iron allows movement and flexibility whilst aiding you in maintaining a correct leg position. As someone with lower back and hip pain, the way the stirrups move with the suspension of the horse has eliminated any blocking pain I previously experienced with standard stirrups. To top it off, the product is not only functional and practical, but it looks classic, and not overwhelming as other technical stirrups can. Really happy with the stirrups, and planning on buying another pair for my other horse’s saddle.

Super - worth the investment
By: Karen on 30 September 2017Very happy with this investment. My son has stopped complaining of sore knees after riding and finds them comfortable to use. He finds that the stirrup treads are much more grippy and stable and that they help him keep his heels down. He likes the adjustable top makes it easier to mount and to 'find' his stirrups. He is using them for dressage and is happy that they do not compromise his 'feel' for the horse. I am happy because they have a lifetime guarantee. This purchase is a winner all round.

After much research, I thought I'd bite the bullet and purchase myself a pair of the MDC Super Sport Stirrups. I can safely say that I have not regretted that purchase for a second! These stirrups are my saviour! One ride and I was hooked. For the first time, I rode without pins and needles and I got off without any aches or pains. 10/10 Service from Ashbree, who were in contact with me to make sure I had ordered the right size. Having a fairly wide foot, I ordered the 5" to allow for Pony Club rules and they are a perfect fit - unlike other flexi stirrups which can often run small. I will be recommending this product to anyone who suffers from joint pain and will definitely be shopping with Ashbree in the future.
