  • do not use on cuts, abrasions or damaged skin
  • always remember if symptoms persist consult your vet

Using the Cold Water Boots after exercise

After hard work the cold water boots should be applied for approx. 20 minutes. For extra cold treatment place ice or ice packs in the bucket of water that they are being soaked in. The colder the water, the colder the boots. For a maximum cold effect you can place the cold water boot from the ice water in a bag and leave in the fridge for 1 hour, this will provide a 3-5 minutes initial blast of cold on the horses leg. Never freeze the cold water boots.

Using the Cold Water Boots for injury

The cold water boots should be applied at least 6-7 times a day and be on the horses leg no longer than 20 minutes.

Storage of the Cold Water Boots

If competing or using for injury over a couple of days the boots can be stored in the bucket of water. Once finished with the boots, they need to be hung up to dry, out of direct sunlight. Once dry they can be stored away. When getting the boots back out to use, re soak them for 2 hours to reactivate.

Cold water boots

Fantastic product! Used them last weekend at Wagga HT after XC and then at the NSW Show Jumping Champs. Easy to use! Great product for tired legs and perfect when out and about without ice on hand... but if you do have ice water they are even better... definitely a user friendly product. We use M on the front legs and L on the hind legs of our 16.3h Warmblood Gelding

Cold Water Boots for horses.

By: on 2 January 2019
I recently purchased the above item, not because I was competing but because my little Arab mare occasionally has low level laminitis attacks. I spent a lot of time when this happens hosing her legs down and filling up a stall with water! I have already used the boots not because she had a laminitis episode but because it has been hot = 45 degrees in fact and I wanted to bring the temperature of her hooves own. It worked a treat as I was able to bring her feetdown by 5\6 degrees on a hot day! I now have a temperature gun and which is fairly accurate and I am keeping records. The boots fitted perfectly, held their shape and were easy to put on. I am 75 and although I still ride everything becomes more difficult. I was able to manage by myself throughout the whole process. Thank you and maybe another activity for your sales pitch. There are a lot of us out here coping with laminitic horses and ponies.

Top product

By: on 21 May 2015
These cold water boots are just great. We have two pairs so all four legs can be cooled at the same time. Use them every day - leave them in a bucket of cold water on the wash bay and put on straight away after they are ridden. A simple way of making a huge difference in looking after the horses legs after a workout. We even took them away to the Sydney CDI. A very easy maintenance ritual ! Thanks Ashbree

Cold water boots

By: on 24 December 2014
I love them ! I live too far out of town to purchase ice so these are excellent! After following the original instructions I now just put them in the fridge & keep them there. Before I need them I put them in the freezer for 1/2 hr & they are better than ice! The fit is excellent! Thank you Ashbree Saddlery for once again coming to my rescue! The boots were urgent & arrived extremely fast! Totally appreciate your magnificent service! Warm regards, Bibi

Love the cold boots

14 July 2014
I love these boots and have 2 pairs, I chuck them in the horse trough when I go to ride and they are ready to put on as soon as I'm done. I can then put them back in the trough and they are ready when I have finished the next horse. Perfect.

Very good value. Easy to use and convenient at home or out at events. They take a little while to dry out so take into account when planning use.

Work a treat

By: on 26 February 2014
Really happy with the boots, they're well made and Ashbree ensured I got them in time to use for a XC comp I had scheduled. The boots stayed in place allowing me to walk the horse and hose him down, and they held their coolness, with the horses legs being cold when I removed them. I soaked them in the Esky with ice which meant they were uba cool when I put them on. He had been getting windgalls recently and I was so happy that there were none this time.

Cheap alternative to traditional ice boot

28 January 2014
Such a quality boot for such an amazing price! I soaked them for 24 hours prior to use, and was surprised to see how big they got. I then took them to a clinic to use after xc, they were still damp and quite thick, but I stuck them in water with ice cubes and freezer packs alike. They were really thick and I think I should have let them dry fully because they were a little too small. If they were 100% dry when I soaked them in the ice water for an hour, I think they would've fitted fine. I have a 17hh warmblood and ordered a medium for the front and large for the hind. NEXT DAY DELIVERY! THANKS ASHBREE!!!

Not very cold.

27 January 2014
I followed the instructions exactly. The boots feel cold when I put them onto the horses leg and yet after 20 minutes, the boots and legs are both warm. I am going to try adding ice to the water and hopefully this will help them work. They are however a great fit and stay in place well.

Very easy to use

13 December 2013
These boots are easy to fit and attach, hold the cold for a reasoable time, I use mine every day and they seem to be taking the rough and tumble of a racing stable just fine.

Easy to use & fantastic price

By: on 11 December 2013
I found these boots easy to use & not overly expensive. I added ice to the water & this worked best. My horse tends to fidget & the first time I used them they slipped down, so I made sure they were on tightly the next time & they then stayed up even when he was continually pawing. They also come with a handy bag to keep them in. They arrived within a couple of days of ordering.
(5)

great value and very usable, multi-purpose

By: on 7 October 2013
mainly intended to be used for horse after cross country, I used plain cold water the first time, but would add ice to water next time. worked really well, horse could still walk to hose down bay, so really happy.

Well fitting easy to use

9 August 2013
These ice boots are great. Very easy to use, just soak in a bucket cold water. The design makes them non-slip and they don't slide down the leg at all. Easy to take to shows to use after your event. Good quality and great price and were shipped very quickly.

Excellent Boots

By: on 14 May 2013
These were shipped to us very quickly and arrived in time for our event. They are well made and fit very well, I love the elasticated Velcro tabs for a perfect fit. They have even been used as human first aid on a swollen knee and were very cold and comfortably moulded. We got a medium pair for the front and a large pair for the back, both fitted very well.

My young thbred had suffered a severe splint and since buying these boots they havent let me down they mould around the leg and soo easy to put on without slipping down..

By: on 6 January 2013
Very impressed with the quality. I have yet to use them on my horse, however have pre-soaked and put into the fridge. They are very cold to touch. The price was very competitive in comparison to other products. I have only rated 4 stars as I don't have experience with other products to date. Shipping was fast.
